Role Summary:

Supporting the Controller, this position will oversee and manage the day-to-day full cycle accounting operations and reporting cycles to produce timely, accurate financial information. This position will also be responsible for preparing financial statements and management discussion comments on a monthly basis.

Key Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure monthly accounting entries, accruals and sub-ledgers are accurate and complete
  • Prepare and upload various monthly accruals and journal entries
  • Process EFT and wire payments, ensuring all bank transactions are recorded in the GL
  • Record all loan transactions including calculation, posting and remittance of interest expense
  • Reconcile all loan accounts and debt covenant reporting
  • Process and record all shareholder loan payments and advances
  • Review financial statements, conducting variance analysis
  • Oversee and complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Manage cash flow reporting, forecasting, cash management and complete bank reconciliations
  • Lead the review and development of improved CAPEX processes and documentation
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of the fixed asset continuity schedules and fixed asset sub-ledger
  • Perform or assist with any operations as required to maintain workflow and meet schedules
  • Safeguard and issue company fuel cards and oversee capital asset record keeping
  • Prepare and review the documents and working papers to support Canadian and US Regulator filings and compliance reporting
  • Complete GST, QST, WCB and IRS and other statutory reporting filings and payments
  • Prepare year end and audit working papers and liaison with external auditors
  • Prepare ad hoc reports, financial reviews and special projects as required
  • Assist in the co-ordination, development and implementation of the month end activities and accounting processes that ensure accurate and timely cutoff and financial statement delivery
  • Assist in the continuous review of the monthly reporting, month end activities, company processes, procedures and control environment to identify areas of improvement, streamline processes, implement best practices and optimize workflows while ensuring internal control and risk mitigation

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA) with 5+ years of post-qualification experience
  • Progressive experience in an evolving environment and a demonstrated ability in utilizing adaptive approaches to generate great results
  • Strong communications skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and duties, while meeting daily, weekly and monthly deadlines, in a consistent manner
  • Capable of working with multiple groups with a combined focus on creating process and efficiencies
  • Proven track record of continuous process evaluation and executing improvements
  • Highly detail oriented, well organized, and able to prioritize to meet multiple deadlines
  • Superior analytical, critical thinking, reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with employees at various levels
  • Familiarity with accounting software and programs, in particular AS400 based applications and Microsoft Excel

Support Analyst

Role Summary:

This role is responsible for the frontline technical support of H&R’s ERP software, desktop computers, applications and related technology. Support also includes resolving help desk tickets, troubleshooting computer systems and peripherals.

The Support Analyst will assist in the maintenance and testing of network servers, associated equipment as well as a variety of other tasks including collaborating with senior IT team members to help diagnose and resolve issues. This position is predominantly one-on-one consultancy with end users, focusing on developing both technical and customer service skills.

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 2 years’ post-secondary education in Information Technology or equivalent experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills with a focus on customer service
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment while prioritizing workload
  • Proven ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Flexible and reliable
  • Comfortable working with all levels of management

This position is Monday - Friday - 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. On-call and some travel may be required.
